The Scottsdale Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program

About Our Outpatient Services

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is provided by SBH Arizona-licensed medical providers and professional counselors in an outpatient setting. Program length is based on medical necessity, as determined by our clinical team, ranging from 90 days to 12 months.

Our IOP clinical team provides outpatient substance use disorder, mental health and addiction treatment five days per week for four to six hours a day. This program includes a personalized treatment plan and continued assessment from a medical provider, along with mental health counseling, group therapy sessions, individual therapy, skills training and vocational assistance, case management, and peer support.

This program is designed to allow patients to continue to strengthen their foothold on sobriety with ongoing maintenance treatment for substance use disorder and mental health issues. Our IOP program is designed to serve as an aid to our patients as they begin working part-time and reintegrating back into society while living a sober lifestyle.

Sobriety is a major requirement to be accepted and for continued participation in our IOP program. Our IOP patients also must be able to continue consistent follow up with providers and attend treatment sessions at the designated times.

If you are under the influence but are seeking treatment, Scottsdale BH can arrange for admission at our preferred detox facility where you can get clean prior to entrance into our integrated care system. After detox stabilization, IOP still may not yet be the best initial option for you. Scottsdale BH also offers a Residential Treatment level of care for patients that need more 24/7 help to stay sober after detox. Your level of care placement after detox will be based on medical necessity. After an initial visit with our intake specialist, you can begin your reserved treatment at one of our facilities in the appropriate level of care.

Admissions Process

Give us a call at (480) 463-4315 to complete our 3-step admission process for yourself or a loved one.

  1. Confidential Assessment: Speak with one of our admissions specialists so that we may get a better understanding of what you or your loved one are struggling with.

  2. Insurance Verification: Our insurance verification only takes a few moments. We primarily accept Mercy Care and AIHP (American Indian Health Plan) AHCCCS Medicaid insurance, Aetna, and private pay. If you have coverage from a major insurance provider, it's likely that your treatment will be covered. Our team of specialists will run a no-cost, private approval of your specific policy.

  3. Schedule Intake: Once you or your loved one feel comfortable with our program and are ready to admit to treatment, we will either schedule an arrival time at our Residential Facility, or set up transportation to pick up the individual and escort them to treatment.

It is our goal to help anyone that reaches out for help. If, for any reason, a prospective patient does not qualify for our services, we will do everything in our power to help that person receive the treatment they need. Our Admissions Team has worked tirelessly to build partnering relationships with other treatment providers, ensuring every person who wants help, receives it!
